It’s the Little Things #214

Anyone else feel as though Spring is officially here once you turn the calendar page to April? I have to say, while the weather isn’t necessarily warm enough for true Spring here in the Midwest, I feel like something switches in my brain. I, for one, can’t wait for April. How about you? Don’t forget that it’s also April Fool’s Day on Saturday, in case you have any pranksters in your home.

Ready for some fun finds this week? I love this cooking bucket list from Pinch of Yum. It is so approachable with only eight things to make and then one task to share a meal. Totally approachable! You know I love a good kitchen accessory, so I am all over Joy the Baker’s list of kitchen splurges. I have always loved bulbs in the Spring and am enthralled with the beautiful planter the Tello and Rose shared. I may have to whip one up this weekend! Lastly, I shared two posts from my blog about how to spring clean your kitchen and the new April homekeeping calendar. Enjoy!

I love a good bucket list and think this idea from Pinch of Yum is so fun. Her recipes have never let me down and are ones I return to again and again.

Want to up your kitchen game? Joy of Baker shared some  kitchen “splurges” over on her blog that I am loving. Not all of them are spendy, but just fun additions to the kitchen. Which one do you have your eye on?

I absolutely love this spring tulip arrangement from Tello and Rose. It adds just the perfect touch of Spring and beautiful color.

I don’t know about you, but our kitchen easily gets the most traffic out of any room in our house. Perfect reason for a little spring cleaning! Hop over to my blog for a new post this week about how to spring clean the kitchen.

It’s the Little Things #213

Hello, hello! How has your week been? This week has zipped by on the back half of it and I can’t quite believe that it is Friday. We haven’t had an incredibly busy week, but just full enough that I am looking forward to a quieter weekend. I love making a big breakfast Saturday morning and having a slow paced start to the day.

Moving on to finds from this week for you. I love, love, love grilled cheese sandwiches and think that sheet pan grilled cheese from Baker Mama is pretty much genius. No need to stand over the griddle flipping when you can do it all at once in the oven. If you are thinking ahead to a little travel or just wishing for a vacation, I thought Condé Nast hit it out of the park with the most beautiful towns in America roundup. Looking for some hints of spring to add to your home? Melissa from Inspired Room has 24 simple ways to add a little touch of the season.

Sheet pan grilled cheese sandwiches sound like just the ticket for making a mess of sandwiches for a crowd. These would be perfect for a casual get-together or when the kiddos have friends over. Thanks, Baker Mama!

Maybe it is due our finicky weather that has been waffling between winter and spring, but I have the itch to do a little traveling this summer. This list of dazzling towns in America from CN Traveler is inspiring.

via Conde Naste Traveler

Melissa from Inspired Room always has such great seasonal decorating advice. I love little touches of the season here and there in our home rather than full out decorating and I found some sweet inspiration in her recent post.

On the blog, this week’s spring cleaning focus is all about living areas. You can jump in any time with the challenge so feel free to join if you haven’t already. I also have a fresh post all about eliminating dust in your home.

How to Remove Dust from Your Home

Dust is inevitable but it’s also easier to keep up with it and remove it rather than trying to tackle after it’s built up. Dusting can be a task to put off, but when it’s built up it can make your home feel dirty and it can affect your air quality in your home. A few simple tools and a little effort will go a long way to keeping dust out of your home for good!

Dusting Wand - Clean MamaDusting Wand

If you’re doing extra dusting with spring cleaning, you might suddenly feel like your home is super dusty. Spring cleaning has a way of showing you all sorts of dust in places you didn’t know were dusty. After the house has been closed up for a season, dust can definitely make an appearance in areas you didn’t know could get dusty.

How to Remove Dust from Your Home

There are all sorts of ways to remove dust from your home – here are my favorite multi-purpose methods.

I keep my weekly dusting essentials in a little caddy – I like having everything at the ready for Tuesday (Tuesday is Dusting Day) and I’ve found that keeping it all in one place is convenient and keeps me from wasting time looking for supplies and tools.

Why dust on Tuesdays?

Dusting should always come before vacuuming because you are whipping up dust as you dust and you want to be able to vacuum the dust up.  New to the Clean Mama Cleaning Routine?  Go here. Curious what products I use? Go here.

3 Tips to Keep Up with the Dust

  1. Dusting consistently is key to keeping up with the dusting. I find that weekly dusting works for this – if I see a little dust on a table during the week I either ignore it or do a quick wipe down.
  2. Keep less on the surfaces so it’s quick and easy to dust.
  3. Change furnace and air filters when it’s recommended for your home system.

Tips & Tricks to Eliminate Dust and Keep It Away

For weekly dusting, use a dusting wand and quickly move through the house dusting each and every surface. When surfaces need a little more cleaning and polishing (every month or so), use a Clean Mama cleaning cloth with a dusting and cleaning spray. Need a dusting spray? Try this one – it’s awesome!

DIY Citrus Wood Polish

You can also find the weekly dusting must-haves on the Favorites page – you’ll find products for cleaning by day of the week and favorite product links.

How about you? Ready to start dusting?  What’s your biggest struggle when it comes to dusting?
